So many lovely people stood with us to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the fire on the site. Sincere thanks to Ms Clare Bettison MHK who gave a tribute to the emergency services, hospital staff and response teams past and present. My thanks to the Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Deputy Station Officer, representatives from the hospital, A&E Inpatient Services, St John Ambulance and Lead Officer for Ambulance Services for attending and giving their support.
Before the one minute’s silence Richard Davis laid a wreath with kind courtesy of Elaine’s Flowers in Peel, and the Ellan Vannin Pipes & Drums played so movingly expressing in music everything we were feeling at that time. Then we had some much needed refreshments kindly provided by Heron & Brierley and the Terminus. Many reminiscences and so good to meet people who’d travelled from further afield to remember friends and family and that time which was a sad watershed in our Manx history.
