At age 19 I watched from the cliffs above as Summerland burned and took the lives of 50 people in 25 minutes on 7.30pm, Thursday 2nd August 1973. I have never forgotten this huge tragedy. No one ever answered for the multitude of mistakes made. I waited, but no-one put in place a commemoration or memorial on the site. In 2014 I decided to do it and now hold a one minute's silence, memorial concert and campaign for a commemorative space on the site where this injustice took place. This site is dedicated to those killed, injured or who helped in any way at the time of the fire. View all posts by summerlandtoday
